The Future of Us

After a tumultuous point in our young history, people everywhere are learning to deal with the immense pressure of moving forward, staying in motion.

What about those who feel motionless? Stagnant in a changing world that is supposedly being built for them?

SUNY Brockport students and staff, between the ages of 19–24, were asked about the concept of the future, and how they are anticipating their experiences.

Interviews:

Stephanie Sortino, 24, is a Residence Director at SUNY Brockport. She achieved her Master’s Degree in Higher Education from SUNY Buffalo, and an undergraduate degree from St. John Fisher College.

Taylor Hatchett, 19, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Biology. She hopes to go to medical school and become a doctor.

Austin Smith, 20, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Physical Education with a minor in Coaching. He plans on being a teacher in the elementary level while working to become a high school athletic director.

Blake James, 19, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Criminal Justice and Computer Science. His goals are to become a service provider for his community.

Ariani Colon-Rivera, 19, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Criminal Justice and Psychology. She plans on going to law school.

Gabriel Rodriguez, 21, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Sport Management and Communications. His goal is to become a collegiate athletic director.

Mackenzie Lawrence, 21, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Public Health. Her goal is to become a health teacher at the high school level.

James Mitchell III, 20, is a student at SUNY Brockport studying Theatre. His career goal includes running shows at the high school level, as well as being a technician on Broadway.
